Spreading the love for Christ

Romans 1:16 - 'I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.'

God has given us all the greatest gifts of mercy, grace and life. Tom wants to use the gifts God has given him to give thanks and spread his word.

He hopes that through his paintings, he can showcase his passion for Christ and what the stories of the Bible mean to him. By doing so, he wants to provide people with either a visual reminder of their favourite passages, or a new lens into a passage they had never encountered.

These are the most important moments in history.

Deuteronomy 28:8 - 'The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.'

Tom always had a gift for sketching, which he carried through school, but chose to study Mathematics at university, which has given him a great career. However, after graduating, he revisited art and invested his time learning more about the techniques of painting via YouTube videos, extensive reading, and observing elite works in galleries around the world.

He has seen a real progression in his work which he credits to God. He believes that God has given him a gift for painting in order to portray the stories of the Gospels through a different medium and spread the message.

That's why his creative process always begins with the Bible. He reads passages, sketches out different compositions, and then paints on canvas with worship music filling the studio. He begins with large, bloc strokes to fill the background, before moving onto finer, blended strokes in foreground characters. Then adding final highlights around the painting to highlight key sections.

Ephesians 2:8-9 - 'For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no-one can boast.'

The Bible is the most important literature ever written and will always be. Every painting is inspired to showcase and guide users to the Bible, so that they can explore the meaning. Whilst Tom is sharing his perspective on the Bibles, they are all named after a passage to draw viewers back their and explore what God has said.

Tom uses painting not only to spread the word to others, but to enhance his own understanding. This is his time to delve into passages, re-reading to find the meaning and questioning what he does not understand. We are all called to faith, but true faith only comes from truly questioning the Bible, to be able to answer those questions.

He grew up 'Christian', going to and participating in church services, but he did not have a solid understanding of the true Christian principles, and so when he started to question his faith, it fell apart. That was until he actually started to answer the questions he was having. When diving deeper into the Bible, with the help from church services and other books/lectures, he was able to establish a firmer grounding for his faith.

Faith requires questioning, as questioning leads to understanding. Tom understands that he cannot answer all questions with a painting, but he may be able to answer some, and encourage people to go to the Bible to explore their other questions.
